3 Day / 3 Night All-Inclusive Adventure Package
Kachemak Bay is a kayaker's paradise! Alaska Ridgetop Inn & True North Kayak Adventures have teamed up to provide the best exploration of land and sea around Homer and Kachemak Bay!
Enjoy a trip of kayaking, hiking, and adventure in the great Alaskan coastal wilderness. Experience prime paddling and hiking coastline, home to marine mammals and nesting shorebirds. Your journey may take you through coastal fjords, Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge, and Kachemak Bay State Park. Trips are available for adventurers of all levels of skill and experience.
Start off each morning with a full Alaskan breakfast and return each evening to deluxe lodging at Alaska Ridgetop Inn. Work up an appetite for a fresh dinner of local ingredients - our coastal specialities include halibut and salmon but vegetarian options are always available. Enjoy a soothing dip in the hot tub and relax under the painted sky of our midnight sun.
Daily Schedule
Day 1: Arrival
Arrive at Alaska Ridgetop Inn for check-in with glacier views. In the afternoon, hike and explore the extensive Homestead Trail system that lies just outside our doorstep.
Day 2: Kayaking
Enjoy a guided day kayak trip on the south side of Kachemak Bay. Paddle around craggy rock arches, islands teeming with nesting shorebirds, and remote beaches. Spy a curious otter, seal, or sea lion. Choose from several different trips, ranging from 1/2 day to a full day and from all kayaking to a kayak/hike combination day.
Day 3: Explore Homer or Hike Across the Bay
Explore the wonders of Homer! You can go tidepooling on the beach, take in exhibits at our award-winning museum, peruse diverse art galleries, adventure out on a bear viewing trip, relax in a coffeehouse or much more! Visit our activities page to learn about all there is to do around Homer.
Or if you'd like to continue your eco-adventure, take a water taxi across the bay for another day of extraordinarily wild Alaskan hiking. There are trails to suit everyone - hikes of varying durations to suit all abilities. Check out the Kachemak Bay State Parks trail guide. We're also happy to recommend the perfect trip for you!
Please Note:
The Day 3 hike will add an additional cost of $60.00 per person to cover the cost of the water taxi across Kachemak Bay. Water Taxi leaves at 8:30 or 11 a.m. and returns by 2:30 or 4:30 p.m.
Day 4: Departure
Enjoy coffee and our full breakfast before you say good-bye to Kachemak Bay. We know you'll be back!
Kayak Trip Descriptions
Day 2 of your eco-adventure features a kayak trip of your choice. There are many options, ranging from a full day of kayaking to a half day of kayaking. Some trips combine hiking on the same day. Whatever your heart desires, we have the right eco-adventure package for you!

Yukon Island Kayak Day Trip (7 1/2 hours)
Our most popular trip explores beautiful rock arches, cliffs and remote beaches. You can expect to see marine mammals and many nesting sea birds in this spectacular area of Kachemak Bay.
Water Taxi leaves at 10:00 p.m. and returns by 5:30 p.m.
Elephant Rock 3/4 Day Trip (5 1/2 hours)
This abridged version of our full day kayak trip. You will still experience much of the scenery and wildlife of Yukon Island.
Water Taxi leaves at 10:00 a.m. and returns by 3:30 p.m.
Eagle Nest 1/2 Day Trip (3 - 3 1/2 hours)
Our half-day kayak trips provide a short but wonderful introduction to kayaking. get a taste of paddling while seeing dramatic scenery and wildlife of Yukon Island.
Morning 1/2 day trip
Water Taxi leaves at 10:00 a.m.
and returns by 1:30 p.m.
Afternoon 1/2 day trip
Water Taxi leaves at 1:30 p.m.
and returns by 5:30 p.m.
1/2 Day Kayak and 1/2 Day Hike Trip (7 1/2 hours)
Half day kayak trip in the morning and at 1:15 water taxi to Sadie Knob Trailhead for a self guided hike through old growth forests to alpine with views of fjords, volcanoes and islands.
Water taxi leaves at 10:00 a.m. and returns by 5:30 p.m.
What to Bring
Please note that you need to provide your own ground transportation between Alaska Ridgetop Inn and the Homer boat Harbor where you will board your water taxi.
- Full water bottle
- Fleece jacket, quick dry or fleece pants
- Synthetic long underwear (if cool)
- Warm socks (quick dry is best - wool or polypropylene)
- Sun hat / warm hat if chilly
- Rain jacket and pants
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen
- Camera, film, batteries
- Some folks like to bring their own rubber boots as well. True North can provide you with boots if you do not have them.
Package Trip Costs
Package cost includes:
- 3 nights at Alaska Ridgetop Inn (please note that the size of your party will determine which suite you stay in at Alaska Ridgetop Inn)
- all meals during your adventure
- all water taxi rides
- kayak equipment and guide
- basic kayak instruction
- maps for hikes

Day 3 Hiking Trip
Please add an extra $60.00 per person if you would like to add the Day 3 glacier hike to your trip. This covers the cost of the water taxi to the south side of Kachemak Bay.
